The Story

The Kies family landed in South Australia in 1857 and began growing grapes in the 1860's. A 6th generation southern Barossa wine family, the Kies family welcomes guests from all over the world with open arms to their 1880's cottage style cellar door.

Having built a state-of-the-art winemaking facility in 2019, the Kies Family Wines tourism experience is well awarded. 2022, saw the the business win SA's Best Small Family Business, Trip Advisor's Certificate of Excellence (Top 10% of all listings) and a Silver Medal in the coveted South Australian Tourism Awards.

From 1985 the Kies Family Wines philosophy has been “not to get bigger, just to get better”. The focus has always been on “quality not quantity” in the winemaking. The wine production is kept small so as to preserve the quality and the distinctive varietal characters in our single-vineyard and estate grown wines.

Today a thriving hub of tourism in the Southern Barossa, Kies Family Wines welcomes tens of thousands of visitors and have received a thousand Google Reviews, due to their focus on exceptional customer service, with an overall rating of 4.9.

Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions so far:

1. What are your opening hours? The cellar door is open from 9am - 4pm for wine tasting experiences. The Monkey Nut Cafe is open from 9am - 5:30pm and will be serving a breakfast and picnic menu throughout the weekend. To attend you must have a ticket which you can purchase from the book now buttons on this page. There will be no tickets available at the gate.

2. What is the process for car parking?

You will be sent a ticket with a barcode for your parking space, and this will be scanned at the gate on entry. All cars will need a ticket for parking on both Saturday and Sunday, as the road will be closed and you will need this ticket to get through the road closure.

3. Can I do a wine tasting at the cellar door throughout Gather Round weekend? We will be accepting guests for wine tasting on a first come, first serve basis. We will not be taking bookings for wine tasting.

4. Can I book for lunch at the Monkey Nut Cafe? Monkey Nut Cafe will be catering the live music events and will be running a shorter menu throughout the weekend. No table bookings can be accommodated due to large expected visitation.

5. What does my ticket include?
If you are intending to go to the Gather Round game on either the Saturday or Sunday, you are free to come and join in the festivities and then walk over to the game.

Tickets gain you entry to Kies Family Wines from 10am and live music starts at 10am also. Your ticket allows you access from 10am - 5:30pm, so feel free to come both before and return after the game.

Your car parking ticket allows you parking until 12am on the day of your event ticket. You will need your car parking ticket to get through the road block.
